A bunch of useless crap

I've made it to within 30 minutes of my delivery in WI for tomorrow morning. I can now take it easy, rest, and catch my breath after a week of pretty hard running. I've had my dinner and am about to pop in a DVD to fall asleep by.

I've really been enjoying my new toy, the GPS unit. I discovered that the picture viewer part is kind of useful after all. I transferred several images from my laptop to the unit's SD card and it plays them slideshow fashion. It makes a dandy little screensaver. I still don't think I'll be using the MP3 function as I have a good MP3 player already.

Besides, the SD card is only 2GB and most of that is used by the map data with only about 40MB left over for images and MP3s. That's not a lot of MP3s. I can order a 4GB SD card for it from Newegg if I decided I want more storage space, but as I don't plan on loading MP3s to it I doubt I'll need the additional 2GB. I find it interesting that a couple of companies actually make 4GB SD cards as the standard specifies a max of 2GB. They figured out a way to do it. The unit isn't compatible with the SDHC format at all so that's not even an option.

I did back up the map data to my hard drive last night. You never know when one of those SD cards will decide to go south on you and without the map data the unit is pretty much useless. I'll keep a copy of the data on my hard drive and when I get home am also going to burn it to a DVD as a permanent back up. Can't have too many back ups ya know, what with that bastard Murphy always lurking about.

Time for a movie and some relaxation time. I need it. I'm bushed from all the driving I've done this past week. WI to UT to TX to NM to WI. Whew, that's a little over 4,000 miles in one week. I'm too old to work this hard.

You loved every mile!  At least the ones that were trouble free.

Well it was actually a decent tour without any major problems. Just a lot of miles. That used to be my norm but I'm getting too old (read lazy) for that crap.

It's always good to be able to take a breath after working as hard as you do! You're right, one cannot have too many back ups!

Thanks. I had several "take a breath" aids over at Appleby's tonight. Sadly, I also blew my damn quit. Again. I wound up smoking. Again. Stupid.

I hate myself sometimes.
