A bunch of useless crap

I'm spending the night in Temple, TX. There just accidentally happens to be a bar next to th3e truck stop. I've been accidentally stopping in there for years.

At some point during the evening's conversation I mentioned that I had taken up knitting. The reaction was hilarious.

"You're doing what?" bartender.

"Knitting? Like with yarn and stuff?" fellow driver.

Etc...

"Yeah, ya know, a couple of sticks and some string" me.

I walked out to my truck and grabbed Irish hiking scarf I am working on and brought it back into the bar as proof. I even had to knit a couple of rows just to prove it.

"cool", "that's really nice", "awesome" were the reactions I got at that point.

Geez, you wouldn't think a bit of string would create such a fuss.

I have a fond memory of a certain night in Temple, Texas but it doesn't involve any knitting. Instead it involved Irish coffee, a Doobie Brothers eight-track and...well, it's a really looooong story.

And it probably involved Shovel getting laid. Like so many of his (incomparable) stories do.

The world is righting itself!  Mason's radar is working again!

Now if the Bartender had been female, that would make a damn good pick up line!
