A bunch of useless crap

When I rode down to the C-store earlier today to pick up some brews there was a kid of about 8 or 9 standing in front of the store when I rode up on my bent. The look on his face told me that he had never seen a bent before. He walked toward me and said "Hey mister, that's a nice bike!"

I got off and set it on it's kickstand and said "Thanks", The kid asked me all kinds of questions about the bike. It was obvious he was just itching to get on it. I finally asked him if he would like to sit on it. His face lit up and he straddled the bike. He asked me if he could ride it but I told him that it was too big for him.

He insisted that it wasn't so I showed him how to sit back in the seat and told him to put his feet on the pedals out in front of him. His little legs couldn't even get close to reaching the pedals and his arms barely could reach the grips. (The bike is a tad over 6 feet long) "Sorry kid", I told him, "like I said, it's too big for you".

I went inside to get my beer and he was still sitting in the bike when I came back out. He got off when I put my brew in the backpack hanging on the back of the seat. I told him to just hang in there, he'd be big enough to ride one eventually.

Somehow I think that kid will end up being a bent rider as soon as he's big enough to reach the pedals.

He can't ride your bent and you can't ride his Big Wheel. I wished they had of had Big Wheel when I was a kid (or those heely things would have been cool too 'specially 'cause back in those days nobody cared if they were dangerous or not!)

I had a big wheel and I loved it. I remember just riding laps around my grandma's basement in the winter and speeding up and down the sidewalks in the summer. I always wanted one of the ones with two handles that would spin out though.

Maybe you could still get heelies. I don't know how big of sizes they go up to though but one of the neighbor kids has them and I know his feet are bigger than mine. Of course, I am a woman. That might make a difference. Maybe I'll get some heelies. I probably would break my neck but I would have fun doing it.

When I was a teenager we used to take the little kids big wheels and race them down the hills. We lived in West Virginia then and those hills were basically almost straight down and lined with briars. The paths were just wide enough for one big wheel so if ya wanted to pass ya had to knock the other guy into the briar patch.

Stupid but fun as hell.

Oh ok. I've seen those, just never knew what they were called. It's probably a good thing they didn't have those when I was a kid. I might not be here today

From the latest report, there are a lot of kids like you out there today that do have heelies! (Apparently they are a leading cause of injuries to kids).

Ah well, kids need a good way to hurt themselves. It's part of being a kid.
