When I rode down to the C-store earlier today to pick up some brews there was a kid of about 8 or 9 standing in front of the store when I rode up on my bent. The look on his face told me that he had never seen a bent before. He walked toward me and said "Hey mister, that's a nice bike!"
I got off and set it on it's kickstand and said "Thanks", The kid asked me all kinds of questions about the bike. It was obvious he was just itching to get on it. I finally asked him if he would like to sit on it. His face lit up and he straddled the bike. He asked me if he could ride it but I told him that it was too big for him.
He insisted that it wasn't so I showed him how to sit back in the seat and told him to put his feet on the pedals out in front of him. His little legs couldn't even get close to reaching the pedals and his arms barely could reach the grips. (The bike is a tad over 6 feet long) "Sorry kid", I told him, "like I said, it's too big for you".
I went inside to get my beer and he was still sitting in the bike when I came back out. He got off when I put my brew in the backpack hanging on the back of the seat. I told him to just hang in there, he'd be big enough to ride one eventually.
Somehow I think that kid will end up being a bent rider as soon as he's big enough to reach the pedals.
