After a short nap I walked over to Appleby's for some dinner. When I walked in I thought that I heard someone call my name but being as my sinuses are wreck and my ears are plugged I thought I imagined it and kept walking towards the bar. Then I heard it again and was sure. I turned around and saw our office manager sitting at a table with a little girl and an elderly woman.
I walked over and said hello. She introduced me to her daughter and her mother. We chatted for a moment and I then made my way to the bar. I was greeted by the bartender who bought my first beer. One of the waitresses came over and gave me a hug. She's the one who always says I sound like Sam Elliott. We talked for a minute during which I made the mistake of mentioning that I was battling a sinus headache. Next thing I knew she was back with a steaming hot cup of green tea and insisting that I drink it to help my sinus problem. It's nice when someone cares I guess. Everyone asked about my recent travels, where I had been, etc.
During my visit several of the employees came over to say hello and chat a bit and the manager managed to stop by as well. She was one of my favorite bartenders before she got promoted.
It's kind of nice to have some place to go 1,000 miles from home and have the folks there make you feel like you're home. Cheered me up a good bit.
