Dispatch called me first thing this morning while I was having my coffee. She said she had a small partial that needed picked up about 2 hours from here, but she hadn't so far found anything else. She mentioned that there was another of our drivers down here also needing a load, but as I was first on the board she had to offer it to me first.
As it was only a partial and I would just have to go pick it up and then just come right back home again until she found something else I told her to just go ahead and give it to the other driver, who doesn't live down here, and let him be on his way with it. I'm comfortably at home while he's in his rig.
She perked up a bit at that and said she would double her efforts to find me a decent load out after she got that driver on his way. Works for me.
I just couldn't see having that driver sit in some truck stop somewhere waiting for a load when I could just as easily remain here at home for another day. No big deal for me, it just means I'll have to make a grocery run for dinner tonight.
Besides, after being gone for 2 months I'm not that anxious to get back on the road again (money issues aside). With any luck she'll turn something up for me to load tomorrow and I'll be on my way.
