A bunch of useless crap

I stayed up a bit late last night and so slept in until 9:30 this morning. It was nice to not be up at the crack of dawn for a change. It's amazing how time on the road, even if parts of it are spent in hotels, can wear you down after a while. Hotels are ok, but they're not the same as home.

Today I am just tinkering around a bit. I did my trip paperwork and rode the bent to the mailbox to mail it to the office. The bent hasn't been shifting as well as it should so when I got back I decided to do a bit of drive train adjustment on it. It only took about 15 minutes to get the deraileur adjusted properly and the shifting as smooth as it should be.

I still haven't made it down to the bike shop. I had planned on going yesterday but the smoke was so heavy in the air I didn't think a 20 mile ride was such a good idea. The air is much cleaner today so I may head down there after lunch. I'm still thinking about trading in my bent for a faster/bigger one but after paying my bills and picking up some items I needed my cash is a tad thinner than I expected so that may have to wait a bit. At least I can look and see what's available in my price range. I really don't want to spend more than $1,000, and would prefer a couple of hundred less than that if possible. I'll be looking at used obviously.

But I do want to pick up some Mr Tuffy tire liners for the folding bike to help reduce the chance of getting flats while riding it out on the road. I haven't had a single flat on my bent since installing them on it. Of course, the Kevlar lined tires help too.

Time for lunch.

Yeah the winds have shifted and have sent it more your way than mine. We still have a slight haze but at ground level it's much better here today.

Kevlar tires? The only thing you have to worry about with those is Ktyptonite!

Enjoy the time off. Post pictures when you do get to the bike shop.

I bet it feels good to be in your own bed?

Yeah, Kevlar tires combined with the Tuffy tire liners are pretty tough.

I wish I'd thought to take my camera to the bike shop with me. I looked around and talked with Mark about a new bike in my price range. He didn't have much in the way of used. the one used bike I would have been interested in was on the stand being prepped for shipping as someone had purchased it via the net.

He has two that I am interested in test riding next time I'm home. One is a Bacchetta Giro Cafe with a high bottom bracket which I am unsure about as I've not ridden one with a high bracket. It's right at $1,000. The other, which I think I like much better, is a black Cycle Genius Falcon for $1150. I am seriously leaning towards the Falcon.

Yeah, it does.
