A bunch of useless crap

Most people probably know about the wildfires in Georgia by now. I a few hundred miles South of where the fires are burning. Our area is currently under an air quality warning because the smoke from these fires is being carried on the wind right down to us.

This morning it was so thick you could barely see across the street. It's thinned some now but you can still smell it in the air and people with breathing problems are being advised to stay indoors out of the smoke.

I had planned to take a long bike ride today but decided against it as long as we are in the smoker. Hopefully the winds will change and carry the smoke away from here, preferably out to sea where they aren't going to bother anyone.

It's amazing how far that smoke can carry. While it's something of a pain in the arse, at least the fires aren't here and I feel for those who live in the burning areas.

You remind me of why I'm glad I don't live out west (in California, Arizona, etc.) as they've had those issues so much in the past.

The few times I've been around areas that have gotten that type of smoke have convinced me enough that I don't want to be around it in the future.

Yeah it does happen more in some places than others but fires can pretty much happen anywhere.

Florida has had enough fires (the one a couple years ago almost got my brother - I think north of you).

We dont have the fires of the magnitude out west, but we still get some.  We are just wetter than them, so they dont get so big.

Yeah we have our share of them here when we go into a dry cycle.

We smell it here too M! A few days last week I woke up to really thick fog-like smoke, you could practically taste the smoke! And again this morning. I think this time it was from the fires in Volusia counties! They had some that didn't stop, but with the rains we had on the weekend that should have dampen it a bit.

Yeah the low pressure system right off the coast is blowing the smoke right down on us. It sucks. I went outside for a few minutes today and my eyes were burning and it was hard to breath. I'll be glad when it passes.

I'm late getting here,  so you probably already know about the fires in CA. and MN. as well.  The Boundary Waters Canoe area is burning up.  Homes,  cabins,  thousands of acres lost.

Here where I am the air seems ok so far,  it's about 117 miles to the north I think,  and haven't noticed any haze and there aren't any warnings yet.

We sure need rain here.
