A bunch of useless crap
Published on April 26, 2007 By MasonM In Blogging
After hanging around at the diesel shop for a few hours they informed me that the problem was a factory machining defect in the head which resulted in a crack. Wonderful, cracked head. They have to replace the head on the engine and the truck won't be ready until tomorrow afternoon. It just couldn't be something quick and simple.

Since I have to hang around until tomorrow anyway I went ahead and made an appointment for the two week follow up visit with the witch doctor which I hope will result in my being released back to full, unrestricted duty.

So I am now in the hotel again. I see the witch doctor tomorrow morning at 10:45 and with any luck my truck will be ready shortly after that. Ah well, as much as it's raining I'd rather be sitting in a nice warm, comfy hotel room than getting soaked to the skin chaining down a load. There's always a bright side.

Yeah yeah yeah

I was really hoping that it wouldn't be the head, but with that much coolant loss it was a strong probability.

Wonderful, cracked head.

Ooh, I'd hate to be the one payin' for that. Sounds like BIG money.

Would expect it's definitely big money to get fixed, but hopefully the fix goes well and you'll be back on the road shortly.

Hope you are nice and dry from the rain now.

It's under warranty and they said it's a machining defect from the factory so they'll have to eat it.

Thanks. I appreciate the kind offer but I think I'll have to pass.

I was wanting to walk over to Appleby's for dinner but am undecided now as it's STILL RAINING. I've been getting rained on for a few days now and just really don't feel like getting out in the crap yet again.

I think I'll just order a pizza.

Well.. you could be tarping a load... at least this way you can be warm, knitting and enjoying a quiet evening w/out all the idiots on the road who think trucks can stop on a dime!

ARe they going to check out the generator while they have it tore down? i know that would make sense.. but.. hey. who am I?

True enough. The rain slacked off to a sprinkle so I beat feet over here to Appleby's.

No, my truck is in an engine shop. They don't have anything to do with the generators. I'll have our shop check it after I get back from some much needed home time. I'm supposed to be hauling a load down to Florida after I get the truck back.

Yeah, just about 2 months. Thanks. Those aren't mosquitoes, those are our state bird.

Be safe, and enjoy some home time. You deserve it after all you've been through.

What did the witch doctor say? Hope you're 100%... (at least according to him!)

As if it's raining here.

I'm told it's been really dry down home too. It never seems to rain where it's needed.
