A bunch of useless crap

I made my delivery in Oshkosh this afternoon and then headed for the yard. I checked in first with the shop to find out where they wanted me to take my truck to be repaired. I've been been going through a LOT of coolant. I got the info I needed, I have to be at a shop in Milwaukee at 7:00 am tomorrow morning. No problem.

I then headed down to the bar at the bottom of the hill for a couple of cold ones and something to eat. I wasn't surprised to see the boss sitting at the bar when I walked in. We shot the shit for a little while and he eventually left to to home and work on his race car.

A little time passed (and more than a couple of beers) and "C" showed up. He's a local who I have come to know. He was bitching about the fact that his bike wasn't running very well. From his description and my own experience having owned more than a couple of bikes over the years I had a pretty good idea what was wrong with it.

I walked out to the parking lot, pulled out my Leatherman and adjusted his carbs with a few quick turns of the screws. I didn't even need to start it, it was pretty obvious from the screw positions that he was trying to run it way too lean. No wonder it didn't want to run right, especially this time of year.

I told him to fire it up, which he did. He ran it down the road and back, happy that it was running better. I gave him a couple of pieces of advice: 1. Don't mess with the carbs if you don't know what you're doing and 2. Buy a Harley.

LOL

He was already considering the second one. I doubt that he'll ever learn the first one.

Do you actually think they will fix your truck this time? I mean really find the problem & correct it? Keeping my paws crossed for ya.....

Ahhh that's the $64,000,000 question.

I'm pretty sure they'll have to replace the EGR system (again).

One of these days they might actually get the generator fixed, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

It's just sad that a $115,000 truck needs to be repaired so often. You'd think for that kind of money there would be a bit of reliability built in.

It's getting chilly out now and I need to fire up the truck. But, as there's a problem I first need to go outside, open the hood, and pour a couple of gallons of coolant into the radiator first. That will make 4 gallons I've put into it just today. They'd better fix it tomorrow as all of this high dollar coolant is costing me a fortune.

Why a Harley?  Other than the fact that it is a cult machine, I hear they are the worst to take care of.

Nah, the only time they're a maintenance problem is when guys keep tinkering with them instead of just leaving them alone. None of mine were ever a problem.
