A bunch of useless crap

I finally got out of the People's Republic of Colorado and am spending the night in Nebraska. I am sitting in a bar across the street from the truck stop here and, shockingly, you can actually smoke in the bar!

I looked up the Nebraska smoking ban law. It seems the government of this state is a rarity on this end of the country. They actually allow their citizens to think and choose for themselves. How unusual! The Nebraska law bans smoking in all government buildings but leaves it up to the private business owners to decide for themselves if they want to allow smoking, have designated smoking areas, or not allow smoking at all. Imagine that, a government entity that actually tends to the government and allows the free citizens to think for themselves and make their own choices.

So I'm enjoying a cold beer, having a smoke, and can spend a little time relaxing now that I am back in the good old US of A once again. It's nice to be in a reasonable place for a change.

While it lasts. I'm sure the PC fascists will eventually take things over here too and the Nanny State will be alive and well.

The State government here is about to introduce total smoking bans in all pubs, after having a trail period where hoteliers could designate particular areas for smoking. There are now concerns that everyone trooping out onto the footpaths in front of hotels and clubs to have a smoke is going to cause more problems. I do believe the next step will be lobbying the State government to ban smoking in public places. I might just move to Nebraska.

I would have included Virginia in your statement of state responsibility.  Sadly, our (un)illustrious Governor has already tried to sneak through a total restaurant ban on smoking here.  Tim Kaine aka Ted Matthews strikes again!

Yeah, the fascism is spreading all over. Soon if we want to live in a free country we'll have to move to Russia.

Yeah, VA has always been pretty fair and reasonable with their laws regarding people's rights but it doesn't surprise me the PC fascists are trying to get a foothold there too.

Thanks. It isn't actually about smoking, it's about freedom, liberty, and the Nanny State. I just really hate the fact that we are becoming a nation of wimps looking to the government to solve all of our problems for us. Excuse my French but we're becoming a nation of pussies and it drives me bonkers.

This is not what our founding fathers had in mind.
