A bunch of useless crap

I'm in Lamar, CO. I'm about 4.5 hours from where I have to deliver on Monday morning. I've checked into a motel for tonight. I just felt like relaxing and wanted a bit more space than the truck provides.

I first pulled into the Best Western but the young lady informed me that all of the smoking rooms were taken. I walked next door to the Lamar Inn and checked in here. It's not nearly as nice as the Best Western, but it's reasonably comfortable, has a restaurant and lounge, and of course WiFi service. It's also 15 bucks cheaper. The 15 bucks I saved will pay for the beer tonight.

Right now I'm just chilling out for a bit. I'm going to wander over to the lounge shortly to check it out and see if they allow smoking or not. Colorado is another of those PC states so I don't know if smoking is banned in bars here or not. I did notice that the door on the lounge over at the Best Western had a "smoke free" sign on it but don't know if that's because of a bullshit law here or just their own little PC bullshit. I'll know shortly.

I don't know of I'll eat in the restaurant here or order something in. I'm kind of in the mood for pizza but am not sure if this tiny little town has a pizza delivery place or not. I'll have to let my fingers do the walking.

I'm thirsty so I guess I'll go scout out the lounge and depending on what I find either have a cold beer or three or just get a Gatorade from the C-store next door.

Either way I plan to do some serious relaxing this evening. I plan to sleep in and loaf here until check out time which is 11:00 am. As I run on Central time that's noon for me. I can loaf all morning tomorrow and still easily finish the trip in the afternoon so I can be there to unload Monday morning.

Oh yeah, I was supposed to be picking up in Denver right at 10:00 am but when I called the yesterday for directions he told me they wouldn't be ready to load the truck until noon so that gives me a couple more hours of leeway to work with Monday.

Now to go scout out the beer situation.

As I suspected it's another bullshit PC law here. These folks are even more full of shit than most though. According to the three, count em three, signs on the door not only is smoking not allowed in the bar but neither is chewing tobacco, snuff, or any other form of tobacco. Let's hear the PC fascists explain how that one is to protect the employees from a health risk. Second hand spit maybe?

Give me a break. It's all a bunch of useless, accomplishes nothing, warm and fuzzy PC bullshit that only serves to make the assholes feel like they're doing something.

I was just doing some reading about the CO ban to see if it did indeed apply to bars as well as other places. It does. But I also found an interesting story that said a judge recently declared it unconstitutional so it's currently being challenged. Another article indicated that as of last month 22 bars in the state had gone out of business as a direct result of the bullshit ban and some 400 people lost their jobs. Way to go CO. The article also said that a number of bars in the state were openly defying the ban. Good for them.

While I think the outright bans are fascist, stupid, and accomplish nothing at all, I will concede the point as far as restaurants go, but they should draw the line at bars. It's putting people out of work and is carrying the idea to an absurd extreme.
