After I had some lunch I wandered into the truck stop tv lounge. I was sitting there all nice and quiet knitting on my sock and watching the idiot box when another driver came in and sat down. He asked me what I was doing and I told him that I was knitting a sock.
"You can actually knit your own socks?" he asked.
"Umm, yeah dude, socks don't grow on trees ya know." was my probably a tad too smart-assed reply.
The guy seemed genuinely fascinated by the idea that a person could actually knit their own socks. I don't know how he thought socks were made, but I guess it never occurred to him that they are knit.
I spent a couple of minutes showing him what I was doing, and how it's done. I'm knitting with a single circular needle using the Magic Loop technique. I guess I'm just so used to it now that I forget that ML does look pretty cool.
As I have to stay parked here until Monday morning before I can move this oversized load again I'll have plenty of time to get some knitting done as well as doing up some laundry. I'm running low on clean socks and boxers so I guess it's time to toss some stuff into a machine and let them swish around a bit. Sounds like a good project for a Sunday afternoon.
And I can knit some while they're swishing around.
