After I finish up at the witch doctor tomorrow I'll be heading for Detroit. I have an Oshkosh truck going to some sort of show at a civic center there, if I recall correctly it's called Cobo or something like that.
I have to deliver the truck there for the show at 8:00am Thursday. No idea what I'll be doing after that. I even have to stop and wash the stupid thing before delivering it so it's nice and clean for the show. What a pain in the ass.
When I picked it up in Oshkosh this afternoon the guy at the plant wanted to show me how to operate it. Ummm, excuse me, but I do DRIVE for a LIVING. While they might think it's the new cool thing, all of the controls are identical to their military 6x6 (except it has an automatic tranny) which I have delivered enough that I could operate them in my sleep. The one small difference is that on this thing the rear wheels are steerable, but if one has enough experience operating various types of vehicles the control system is very obvious. And the system is still more simple than that truck I drive every day.
I did let the guy go through his little routine though. Hey, that's what he's getting paid for. I nodded my head and made a few comments until he had run through everything he thought I should know. When he got to the point of starting to tell me where the power disable switch was located I reached over and switched it, killing the vehicle. "Oh, you mean THAT one?" LOL
He decided he was wasting his time and let me load the stupid thing.
Ok, what can I say, I felt like screwing with someone today.
Besides, Detroit is not one of my favorite places to go.
