A bunch of useless crap

I got unloaded promptly this morning and beat feet up here to Georgetown for the reload. When I got here I found that the load (military crane assemblies) wasn't ready yet. The guy said they would "probably" be ready around 3:00. As this was about 11:00 I obviously had some time to kill.

I dropped my trailer in the middle of their lot and bobtailed a few miles South to the Premium Outlets center where I could get a bite to eat and do some window shopping and girl watching while enjoying the warmth and sunshine.

I happened to pass by the Red Wings shoe store and a pair of box toe "biker" harness boots caught my eye. This is my favorite style of boot and my last pair had worn out some time back. I decided to wander in and check them out.

I found a pair that fit well, the price was reasonable, so I went ahead and bought them. I'd never tried the Red Wing brand before and I have to say that despite their being new and in need of breaking in they're pretty comfortable and seem to be made pretty sturdy. As much as I hate breaking in a new pair of boots I'm glad I found these. My last pair of harness boots lasted me better than 10 years (resoled twice) and I'm hoping these will do likewise.

Having had a bite to eat and making a nice dent in my wallet I decided to bobtail on back here to the shipper in the hopes that they'll get this load ready and loaded earlier than they said. So far it isn't looking good on that. It's already after 2:00 and I see no sign of them preparing to load me.

So much for getting a jump on this trip back to WI. Once I do finally get loaded I'll probably just run a little over an hour up the road to a little truck stop next to a little country bar I accidentally know about in the little town with the odd name of Elm Mott, TX and have a shower and a few cold ones while I while away the evening.

If it takes too long to get loaded and traffic has already grown too heavy (Friday before a holiday weekend is hell) I'll just run the 30 minutes up the road to just North of Temple and park at the little truck stop that is accidentally next door to a little tin roof country bar and spend the night there. Last time I was at that place a tornado passed right behind the joint and all of us idiots ran outside to watch it go by.

Either way, I plan to have a few beers tonight and relax after busting my tail yesterday and this morning to get here and wait around.

But at least I got a nice pair of boots out of the deal.
