I started off my first day back to work with something fairly easy. A driver had dropped a military fuel tanker truck at the yard over the weekend. They had me hook to it, chain it down, and run it up to the factory in Oshkosh where it will be rebuilt. I didn't have too much trouble with that.
I then stopped by a factory in Oshkosh that builds generators and picked up a generator and a fuel tank base, chained them down and brought them back to the yard. By then my back was protesting a little bit, but not too badly.
I'm now just hanging around the yard waiting for them to put together my load out. "R" called me while I was in Oshkosh and said that he had a high paying load to Texas if I wanted it, but there was one small catch. One of the pieces, a pump, had to be tarped. He wanted to know if it would be any problem for me if he tarped it for me here at the yard. I told him I would have some trouble handling the heavy tarp at the other end and wasn't supposed to be doing that.
He decided that he would go and pick up a blue "throw away" tarp to use on it. I told him that would be fine because they hardly weigh anything at all and shouldn't cause me any trouble on the other end. Of course, they're also not very tough and the wind will likely have it torn to shreds by the time it gets where it's going, but that's another kettle of fish.
Still no check from Worker's Comp yet. "R's" sister called and fussed at the insurance company again today and told them she wanted them to cancel the checks they claim were mailed over a week ago, issue a new check, and over night it to her. She was pretty nasty with them. Hopefully I'll actually see some money in the next couple of days. My house payment was due yesterday.
Ah well, I suspect everything will work itself out one way or the other. I won't waste energy worrying about something that is not within my power to control.
