A bunch of useless crap

My visit with Captain Kirk wasn't altogether unpleasant. He tortured me a bit and then his nurse treated me to an ultrasound treatment on my lower back which did a good job of relaxing the muscles and easing the pain from the torture.

The witch says that at the rate I am progressing his opinion is that I should be able to return to work in about a week.

I see the regular doctor tomorrow and I am hoping that he agrees with that assessment as I am getting a touch of cabin fever couped up in this hotel for so long. I'm ready to fire up the big diesel and watch some mile markers float by.

It's turning out to be a beautiful day here today. It's warm, sunny, and quite refreshing. While the breeze is still a tad too chilly for my Florida blood I have seen many of the natives here wearing shorts today. Everything is relative I suppose.

I'm wearing the back support belt the witch doctor recommended and it does indeed make sitting and walking a bit more comfortable and less painful even if it is a bit uncomfortable on my beer gut. Ah well, nothing is perfect is it?

As soon as my back settles down a bit I'm going to walk over to the grocery store to pick up some more Gatorade as I drank the last one last night, and maybe I'll pick up a 12 pack while I'm at it. If that doesn't tax my back too much I may then follow that up with a stroll to Appleby's for some lunch. I want to get outside and walk around as much as my back will allow as it's such a beautiful day.

Enjoy, it's supposed to be nice for the next couple of days.
it got up close to 70 in Hamilton, today. Still no shorts in sight here, though! Really helps my moodiness to see the sun.

I agree that seeing sunshine can do nothing but boost the morale.

I spent two weeks in Hamilton about 12 years ago evaluating and testing some software. I had a very good time there. It struck me as a very clean city and most of the bars were great. My co-worker and I did go into one bar there where we noticed that there weren't any women in sight but people were dancing. We left after one beer.

I wouldn't know about them types of bars, Mason.  Changing the subject, there's quite a lot of Linux fans around here, because Redhat is across the bay in Burlington. The founder owns the Hamilton Tiger Cats CFL team. Glad you liked the city, but our biggest product being steel, it sometimes stinks pretty bad around here. Still, I guess, it's all relative.

I never noticed any bad smell in Hamilton. It struck me as a very clean city.

I'm not a fan of Redhat or any other RPM based Linux distro. Dependency hell is not something that attracts me to an operating system. That's why I use Slackware.

Good to read that things are starting to get back to normal.  I hope the time passes quickly along with the healing process.

Thanks. Being used to healing quickly this has really had me bugged. I did more damage than I thought and it's taking much longer than I like to get healed up.

I'll look into that, I hate dependencies too and I do have an old laptop available. thanks.

All apps have dependencies, but Slack installs most of them by default. But, if an app won't run ya simply try to run it from a terminal and it tells you what it's looking for that it can't find. Install that and you're good to go.

Slackware is a very much hands-on manual distro but it's very stable and very reliable. There's a big learning curve for it but it's worth it.

Great news, I'm glad you're feeling better and I hope you continue to progress.

Thanks. I'm up for it. (There's not always rpm's for stuff anyway.)

So how is the fix on the generator coming this time?  I hope with all the down time, they have a chance to really fix it.

If you enjoy getting your hands dirty "under the hood" I think you'll like it. Also, linuxquestions.org is the official support site for Slackware and you can learn a lot just by reading the forums there.

They claim it's fixed but I'll believe it when I see it.

ohhhh....Chiropractor is the Witch Doctor?!   Your title has that song about the witch doctor in my head and I can't get it out!LOL~~~~

You know the one that goes "I told the witch doctor that I'm in love with you...and there's a lot of "oooh heee oh ha ha weng weng walla walla bing bang..." don't ask!  [I'm sure I screwed up the words!]
