A bunch of useless crap

I just returned from this morning's doctor appointment. It didn't go exactly as I had hoped.

He asked how the back was feeling and I made a point of telling him that it was feeling much better than it had last week, and that I thought that maybe with a couple of more days of rest I'd be able to go back to work.

Damn doctor wasn't falling for it for a second. He made me do some movements like twisting, stretching, bending, and so on and so forth. Naturally it was impossible for me to do some of them at all, and some others made me groan despite my best efforts to not do so.

Tricky bastard.

Now I have to go see a frigging chiropracter tomorrow, Friday, and again on Monday. Then a follow up with this doc again next Tuesday. This is just dragging on and on.. I'll be stuck here in this hotel for at least another week.

My patience for this damn situation is really wearing thin. The only thing that has kept me even a little patient up to now was the hope that maybe I could get back to work in the next few days. Another week stuck in this hotel and I'm gonna go nucking futs.

Better to be healed than to re-injure it. I know idling is no fun, but hope you can make the most of it.

Yeah, I know. I just get stir crazy being in one place too long. That's why I went into the trucking business in the first place. I'm also a bit concerned about the chiropractor thing. I've never been to one before and after just finishing filling out the 10 page packet of forms they gave me and reading all of the information regarding the potential risks associated with chiropractic treatment I am now even less enthusiastic about it.

I sure as hell don't want to wind up crippled or even dead (yeah death was actually included in there).

Friggin witch doctors.

So sorry but it's for your own good right?! I can imagine it's difficult being stuck for another week. Just try to take it easy, as I know you will and get back to knitting. You could go for long walks. Is it scenic there at all?

There comes a time, Mason, when you'll try anything, anything at all for some pain relief, chiropractic, acupuncture, bio-feedback...anything! Hahah, I even let them insert needles between my vertebra (sp?) and pump 'em full of anesthetic to get some temporary relief.

That's true enough. I've had those spinal injections in the past. My last girlfriend worked for a doctor who ran a pain clinic. I socialized with the doc running the joint. We bowled, drank, ect. together. One of the fringe benefits was he would give me free injections from time to time. They do help for a while.

I hope you never get to that point (if ya do though, the treatment isn't as horrific or painful as it sounds) but hey, let the hoodoo man do the hoodoo that he do, if for no other reason than to satisfy your Worker's Comp claim. I imagine you're expected to follow the doctors orders if they're to be paying for treatment.

Yeah, that's the bitch about Comp. You have to go along with whatever they recommend regardless. At least Comp is footing the bill for this hotel.

You need a little distraction, though, that's for sure. I'd inquire about renting a car (so you can get around to all those places a truck won't go) and maybe trying to take in a movie, hang out at the local library, go for meals, or at least cruise for a blow-job!

Is there a YMCA around? They might allow you to make use of their swimming and whirlpool facilities if you explained your situation to them, and that would be wonderful for your back, affording you a bit of low impact exercise.

That would be fine except that one of the restrictions I am currently under is that I am not allowed to drive any vehicle of any sort. That's partly because of the back problem and partly because of the drugs.

Hang in there, Mason. It's sad that you no longer have Socrates around to keep you company. Have you considered another kitten? This might be a good time to look into it, wonderful little healers that they are.

Thanks, I'm doing the best I can under the circumstances. As for the pet thing, I don't think I want to go that route again.

Thanks. I've been trying to knit a bit but these drugs make me too uncoordinated and lacking in concentration to knit properly. Besides, sitting down long enough to actually do any knitting gets too painful. This room has a bed, an upright desk chair, and a recliner. I am constantly moving from one to the other to the other as my back starts complaining after a little while in each one. Walking around in the hallway helps some too.

I may walk over to Appleby's later today just for a change of scenery.

Right now I'm waiting for a woman from my office to drop by to pick up some paperwork I have for her relating to this mess. She's also going to bring me a carton of smokes so I don't run out. I'm hoping she also brings me a bit more spending money as all of this delivery/take out food is quickly draining my wallet.

Here's hoping she's cute, single, and lonesome, too!

She's married and also my boss's sister.

Nah, marriage is the number one cause of divorce.
