A bunch of useless crap

I was driven out of bed around 4:30 this morning. The pain in my back refused to let me sleep any longer. I got up, walked around a bit, and sat in the little hard backed chair for a while before getting a hot shower. The shower helped a bit.

After showering I dressed, slowly, and went out to the truck to go get some much needed coffee. The door locks on the truck were frozen Grrrrrr. As it was a bit breezy outside I walked back into my room and used my lighter to heat up the key. I then went back out and used the now hot key to thaw the lock. It took a minute or so but the lock finally turned. I drove across the road, filled my mug, and returned to my little room.

I'll be leaving for the office shortly to fill out the Worker's Comp forms. At this point I don't even know for sure what time my doctor's appointment is set up for. We discussed trying for around 10:00 am but I don't actually know for sure. What I do know for sure is that I need some muscle relaxers and pain killers in a really big way. I need to get this pain down to a manageable level. The one thing that bothers is that the doctor may put me off work again, which I really can't afford as I have bills to pay. But I can't afford to let my back continue the way it is either.

Ah well, I guess I'll just have to go with the flow here and see what happens. Time to start packing up for my trip to the office.

Good luck at the doctors. I know you need to work, but then you need to be able to even more.

Good luck at the doc's Mason. Know that you'll be in our thoughts and prayers.

Now, where did I put my doc's phone number again ... I guess I better get off my ass and see my doctor again.

Thanks. Things didn't go exactly as planned this morning. When I got to the office the boss said that the earliest the doctor could see was Friday morning. Since he didn't want me sitting around in pain for that long he sent me to the emergency room instead.

I went to the ER, got checked out, told them the whole story, got a shot in the ass (still feels like a frigging bowling ball in my hip), some scripts for percocet and valium (she said it was a better muscle relaxer than flexeril), and headed for the pharmacy to get them filled.

By the time I reached the Wal Mart pharmacy the shot was starting to work and I could walk reasonably well with much less pain.

I still have to see the regular doctor tomorrow. Now they're talking physical therapy. I'm hoping they change their minds about that one as it will put me out of work even longer. I go to that doctor tomorrow morning.

I've checked into the hotel now. The nice one. Plenty of food available, pizza delivery, Appleby's next door, and much more comfortable. I rented the room through Monday morning as I don't expect to be going anywhere before then.

The office reimbursed me all of the money I had spent up to this point on hotels, drugs, taxis, etc. related to this injury. I hadn't been keeping track, just stuffing the receipts into a pocket in my laptop bag. I was a bit shocked that it was over $300. Of course now they owe me another $240 for this room.

I think the percocet and valium are starting to kick in. I think I'm going to be a mellow and happy camper this weekend

Thank God. The man finally comes to his senses.

I'll let you in on a little secret, Mason. Money is a necessity, but you can always get more of it. Your health is far more valuable, cannot be replaced, and is a necessity in that you must have it in order to get more money!

It's all about priorities, babe. First things first. Get yourself well and the rest will take care of itself in time.

Let me know if you're in need of some relief. I meant what I said before.

Thanks. You're right of course. I've just never been much of one for giving in to pain or sitting around doing nothing. It about drove me nuts when I was laid up for over a year from the car wreck. I'm just not the couch potato type.

But if I don't take care of this now it'll come back to bite me in the ass later so I have resigned myself to dealing with it now instead of later.

I've never had valium before. This is some good stuff when combined with percocet

Thanks, I appreciate it. As much as I hate not being able to work, I guess I just need to get it over with so I can get back to it full time.

Yeah, if ya need the doc, see the doc. Besides, some of these drugs are pretty cool.

Your writing is reflecting that.

00o00 @ V's and P's, now I'm jealous!

Add a couple of beers and you, my friend, will be flying.

Be careful though, and don't take enough to relieve your pain completely or you might re-injure yourself.

PT for lower back injury isn't bad, certainly it won't be as intense as what you went through with your hip. When I was going, all they really had me doing was core strengthening exercises with these huge, air-filled balls, and if you're lucky, they'll include some heat therapy and massage afterwards, leaving you feeling pretty damned good, at least for the rest of the day.

Be good to yourself, and enjoy the weekend as much as you can.

Thanks. I may have a beer or two later if the pain has eased enough for me to walk over to Applebys.

I'm not concerned about the PT itself, I can take it. It's the additional down time I don't really want. I didn't do PT after the hip thing (no insurance and couldn't afford it), but I did after the back surgery. I loved the warm pool work out. Just getting in a pool and having the water lift my weight off my back felt wonderful. Hated the hell out of the ice packs though

No, but your prose style is more (for want of a better term) flowery. You are more loquacious.

Ah well, I'll be back to my normal boring self in no time

Pleased to hear you finally got some meds to ease the pain, mate. As you said, a couple of beers and you'll be cruising around the moon. Nice...

Thanks. I did actually sleep for a change last night. I can't take them this morning as I have to drive myself to the doctor's office but they'll be here for me when I return.
