A bunch of useless crap

It's getting quite cold here tonight. Well, quite cold for Florida at any rate. My little space heater has been running a lot the last couple of hours and I've had to bump up it's thermostat a couple of times.

Right now it's about 37 outside and is forecast to drop into the 20s. That's very cold for this area. Most of us don't even have actual furnaces in our homes. I have a single 1500 watt space heater and an electric blanket. They're enough to keep my little place from getting too cold and me from freezing, but I'm not looking forward to that icy cold bathroom tomorrow morning. The bathroom door has to remain closed so as to lower the amount of space that my little heater needs to deal with. Besides that, the bathroom window isn't exactly air tight and cold air does come through.

Hmmm, I just had a very odd and humorous thought. When I kick the proverbial bucket I know what I want written on my headstone, just to screw with people. "Buried Alive".

The sock is coming along great. I'm working on making the foot part long enough to fit my big foot. I wish I had it finished already. Would be nice and warm for my feet about now. It should be finished sometime tomorrow.

Dispatch called me at 2:00 this afternoon. She said she had a load for me in Winter Park, but it had to be picked up by 4:00. Umm, that's a good 90 minutes ride, it would take me at least an hour to be ready to leave, and well, it just ain't gonna happen. I need a little bit more notice than that, thank you very much. I told her to call them and see if I can pick it up tomorrow.

She called me back around 5:45 with information about a different load (I guess the answer was no), but said that the broker had already left for the day. She gave me the broker's number so I can try and call them tomorrow. If I know brokers there won't be anyone there until Monday, assuming they aren't taking the holiday off.

At this point I am assuming that I will be spending the weekend at home. I haven't spent two full weeks at home in a long time. It's kind of nice and relaxing, but sure as hell isn't doing my wallet any favors.

...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Sorry to keep you waiting, I had to go download some beer. Yep, the bathroom is very cold.

Where was I? Oh yeah. I really need to get back out on the road and earn a bit of change for paying bills, buying yarn, beer, and, if there's any left over, maybe some food.

Ramble ramble, pointless comment, ramble ramble ramble.

Ok, enough for now.

All things considered, I'd rather be in Philadelphia.

That's supposedly on W.C. Fields' tombstone.

The weather here is starting to FINALLY warm up a bit -supposed to be in the upper sixties manana and Sunday. Since i have Monday off, think I'll tinker around Sunday afternoon and change the oil in my truck and listen to some tunes, cook out, and do the brewski thang. Pity you there in the cold!

It'll be back up into the 60s tomorrow. Just a cold night. One thing I love about Florida is that it doesn't remain cold for very long. Of course here 60s is still chilly, but it beats the hell out of sub zero.

Cooking out sounds pretty good. I may have to go pick up some charcoal tomorrow. The brewski thang is a given.

Hey Mason, it is the pits being cold but when your sweet ass hits that electric blanket a lot of things can be forgiven. That is pure pleasure.

I've never really liked electric blankets. It seems like I can never get it set just right. it's always either too warm or not warm enough. I used to have this great electric mattress pad. It was warmer down by the feet than at the top. Perfection! I need to find another one of those.

That's one thing I really miss about my water bed. It was always nice and warm.
