I got a call from dispatch today. She said she had a load for me to pick up tomorrow if I wanted it.
Cool, tell me about it.
It was two trucks to be picked up at an auction place. Strike one. Auction places are notorious for being a pain in the ass.
I would have to drive them on myself. Well, I assumed as much as it's an auction house, but we'll call it strike two anyway.
I would have to dismantle the stack on one of the trucks to meet the height limit. Big strike three there. I don't carry much in the way of tools on my truck partly because it's not my job to work on the truck and partly because I had sold my tools during the time that I was recovering from the wreck.
I have always maintained that it's the shipper's responsibility to make the freight ready to ship, and to load it. Federal regulations actually agree with me on this one but it isn't always enforced. I can live with driving them on, I've done it before, but when it comes to dismantling someone else's equipment it ain't gonna happen.
So as of now I still don't have a load and am not sure when i will have.
