A bunch of useless crap
or just some interesting dust?

I found this article quite interesting. If the strange red object are indeed some form of alien life or spores, they are unlike what we accept as living cells here on Earth as they lack DNA or a nucleus. I'll be interested to read further test results on this.

If it is life, then scientist have a lot of learning to do!

No doubt. The initial chemical composition is pretty interesting and suggests that they must be something other than simple dust. As suggested, they could be some sort of fungus spore or a similar sort of thing, but if they are they seem to be of an unknown variety at this point. Interesting either way, but I wonder if they'll ever be able to say conclusively whether they are of terrestrial origin or not.

The abstract says they contain mainly carbon and oxygen, but no DNA. If they were alive, it'd be very odd and would totally revamp the scientific world....hell, all the stuff that I keep testing on would be thrown into question....or maybe just create a branch of space biology. Very weird.

Yeah, the lack of DNA is what makes me believe that it can't be any sort of actual cell as we understand cells. But then that begs the question as to what exactly they are.

Nah, they only melt in your mouth.

Maybe they're little bitty tribbles!

That is what they want you to think. But since they dont culture your mouth, who is to say!

God Red a bad pun and instead of spitting coke on his monitor, he coughed up some M&Ms

Hmmm, now there's a possibility.

I keep thinking of the red mold from War of the Worlds.

Intriguing...
