A bunch of useless crap

I just got home from the dreaded trip to Wally World. Man I really hate that place! But it is the cheapest place to get groceries and stuff and as I need to conserve funds, off I went. As usual the place was crowded. It doesn't matter when you go to this bastion of cheap crap, it's always crowded. Rude people blocking the aisles while they stare mindlessly at the items on the shelf, scratch their ass, or chat with someone (sometimes all three at once), me trying to get my crap and get out as quickly as possible, and dirty little unsupervised heathens running riot through the store. I hate this place!

I bought enough groceries to last me through my week at home, as well as some shampoo and Advil. Oh yeah, and a sweater they had marked down to 11 bucks. I went as cheap as I could on the groceries while still getting stuff that's actually edible. I was hoping to have enough left over to order the Knit Picks Options circular knitting needle kit I've had my eye on.

No such luck. I do have enough cash left to order them, but that would leave me without beer money for the rest of the week and that's simply unacceptable. I get paid again on Friday, but as I am leaving out again on Monday I am undecided about whether I will order them then or not. I could have them shipped to my office in WI, so I guess I'll wait and see on Friday. As much as I'd like to have that set of needles, I'm not going to run myself broke buying them. If my pay this week is as good as I expect I'll order them, otherwise I'll do the mature thing and just wait until another time and pout about it until then.

I'm now back at home, cheap groceries put away. Well, ok, the refrigerated stuff is put away, the rest is waiting patiently in it's little plastic bags. After the trip of doom and gloom I needed a beer. The rest will get put away...sometime.

It's warmed up nicely and is a great contrast to yesterday. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and if I had an ounce of energy I'd be outside riding my bike and enjoying the great weather. Instead I'm going to sit my fat ass right here on the couch drinking beer and trying to decide what I'm going to prepare for dinner. I might actually get around to actually preparing dinner.

Please enlighten me. I'm a South African and I see a Zulu word (ubuntu) being tossed around. Where did it come from/

Ubuntu is the name of a Linux distribution. You can google Ubuntu Linux to learn more about it.

From Wikipedia:

The name of the distribution comes from the Zulu and Xhosa concept of ubuntu, which means "humanity towards others". Ubuntu’s slogan – “Linux for Human Beings”, encapsulates one of its main goals – making Linux more available and easy to use.

Yep. If I recall correctly, it originated in the Bantu languages of South Africa and also means something along the lines of "I am because we are", "A person becomes human through other persons", and "A person is a person because of other persons". (I believe I read this somewhere on Wikipedia as well)

It basically expresses the interconnectedness of all people, if I understand it correctly.
