A bunch of useless crap
not necessarily in that order

After a couple of days of hard, flat-out running I am finally at a point where I can slow down a bit and take a break. After two days in a row of getting up at 5:00am (which I dearly hate) I can go to sleep tonight without setting my alarm and just wake in the morning when my body is ready.

On the way down I-95 I stopped at the NC/SC line and visited South Of The Border. Yeah, it's a miserable tourist trap and all that, and it's truck stop, Porky's, is a real dive, but I wanted to do a quick bit of shopping. I used to have a really nice Mexican blanket poncho that I had purchased there several years ago and wanted to get a new one.

Sure enough I did find one and amazingly enough it is even the identical colors of the old one. Kind of a maroon with white and other colored accents in it. They're not exactly the most fashionable things in the world but on those days when it's really too warm for a coat but there is still a chill in the air they're quite comfortable.

Now if I could only find one like the old alpaca wool one I had. Very soft and very warm. It was made by South American Indians, so I doubt I'll be finding another one like that unless I get a chance to visit another international pow wow.

I left SOB and headed on down into SC for a bit before stopping here, just North of Florence, for the night. I bought some Gatorade and a sandwich inside and settled back into my truck for a movie and some nice, relaxing knitting. It feels good to just chill out after the past couple of hectic days.

Only 8 more hours of driving to Tampa so I'll be there some time tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully early enough to get a little more relaxation in tomorrow evening. Then home for some serious hard-core goofing off.

Yeah, it is nice. I'm planning on stocking up on some when I can afford it.

I can't even imagine all of the knitting involved with something that large! I guess it would keep me busy for a good long while

Hiya M! Good to hear you're going to get some free time! I had a poncho once, a long time ago.

Get home safe! Some really wicked weather rolled around in Volusia and Lake Counties on Thursday night! It's been pretty chilly here today too! I'm beginning to wonder if I still live in Florida or what?!!

Thanks FS. I've been following the news updates on the tornadoes. Pretty ugly.

Compared to where I've been lately even a chilly FL will be a warm and welcome change.
