Hot sun beating down
Burning my feet just walking around.
Hot sun making me sweat
gators getting close, hasnt got me yet
I cant dance, I cant talk.
Only thing about me is the way I walk.
I cant dance, I cant sing
Im just standing here selling everything.
After getting a bite to eat in Gillette, WY I climbed back into my rig to get rolling. The heavy food had made me a little bit sleepy so I tuned the XM radio to the Big Tracks channel to hear some classic rock. As I got rolling the Genesis tune "I Can't Dance" came on. I hadn't heard that one in several years so I cranked it up and felt a bit more energetic as I got the rig up to speed. I used to enjoy the video back in the day when MTV still played music videos.
The road stretched out in front of me in exactly the same way that most beautiful women don't and I put it in the wind. Robert Palmer was singing Addicted To Love as I admired a heard of antelope grazing in the field beside the interstate. Beautiful animals.
A little while later I passed another antelope herd as ZZ Top was doing one of their great tunes (I already forgot which one). Golden Earring was doing "Radar Love" on the Top Tracks channel (yeah I channel hop) as I settled into a nice long stretch of road and set the cruise control at 75.
All in all I passed four herds of antelope, a coyote, and a herd of buffalo between Gillette and Rapid City, SD where I am now parked.
I had planned on traveling another 100 miles or so yet today but my hip doesn't want to so I stopped here. I'll just have to plan on delivering Tuesday morning I guess. Dispatch will probably be in a little tiff over that but oh well.
This trip has been hard of my rig and it's going to need some attention from the mechanics when I get back in. Not only is the generator needing some repairs but now I have a rather large crack in the windshield courtesy of a rock throw up by the tires of another rig. Well at least the mechanics will have something to do when I get there.
This truck stop has a place called the Road Hog Saloon. I'll wander in and check it out and have a quick one, but I'm going to make an early night of it tonight and get some rest. I want my hip loosened up in the morning so I can do the final 9 hours to Ft McCoy and still get stopped at a reasonable time tomorrow afternoon. I ran out of pain relievers so I'll probably pick up a bottle while I'm here so I can have them in the morning. They do help take the edge off a bit and help me take care of bidness.
