A bunch of useless crap

I'm sitting in North Bend, WA. I heard on the CB that there was a tavern just down the road from the truckstop. Only a half a mile. Cool. I decided to walk down and check it out so I grabbed my cane and headed that way. It turned out to be more like two miles down the road.

I had a decent time even though I can't abide stupid laws that make one stand outside the bar to smoke. Damned stupid. Me, being me, struck up conversations with several of the patrons as well as the bar staff. Overall it was a pretty fun evening.

When it was time for me to leave I put on my coat, grabbed my cane, and started for the door. One of the regulars with whom I had chatted stopped me and offered me a ride back to my truck. I declined, telling him I didn't wish to put him out, but he insisted. He gave me a ride back to my rig.

Damned nice guy.

I really appreciated the ride back. You just don't meet that many truly nice people these days.

Yeah, it is sad, but guys like him restore my faith in human beings a bit, much like Dr Guy did when I was really down and out. There are truly good people left in the world.

Thanks. It was a nice relaxing evening without the slightest hint of drama.

Isn't is great that someone can make your day just by being nice. Hooray for nice people. Too bad their aren't more of them out there.

I think there's more nice guys than we realize out there. We have just become such cynics we still think they might be an ulterior motive behind their kindness. But again maybe the Pacific Northwest has kinder people. I lived in Portland, and when I first moved there people were so kind that I'm sad to say it freaked me out. Not that I dislike goodness in people, I just couldn't believe there was so much in one place. It was almost like I didn't trust them more.

It is always the small acts of kindness that are the Biggest - nice man to have given you a ride.

there are plenty of nice people out there Mason - UDTM is right we are cynical and tend to think there are ulterior motives behind any kindness - it is really quite sad when you think about it.

May many more "good ones" cross your path and make your day!

You meet nice people all of the time, but not all that many who will happily go out of their way to extend a kindness.

Certain areas do seem to have more nice folks than others. That's one reason I always liked the Southern states as the people generally seem nicer.

so it seems.

I hope I'll be getting a load out of here today, but from the chatter I've been hearing freight is painfully slow here right now. Annual inventory time and all that I suppose. January is always a slow time for freight.
