A bunch of useless crap

I've started my trip Westward. I fueled the truck this morning. That was a frigid experience. The temp dropped to 2 degrees last night. Brrrrrrrrrrr. I'm sure glad my heat was up to the task. I recall rousing once during the night and feeling a bit chilly. I turned up the heat a little and went back to sleep.

I'm stopped in Portage, WI for my breakfast before continuing West. As I haven't been out to Seattle in a long time I'm kind of looking forward to the scenery along the way. I'm just hoping Mother Nature behaves herself and doesn't cause the highways to be closed down along the way.

It's going to be a chilly trip. I've been running the heat almost wide open this morning and the truck is barely staying comfortable. If it gets too bad I'll partially block the grill with a piece of cardboard to cause the radiator to run a bit hotter. An old trick, but a good one.

It's nice to be able to just take my time. I'm in no rush at all and can just relax and enjoy the trip, stopping whenever I feel like it.

Sometimes it pays to "go north, young man, go north".  A 300 mile section of I-10 in Texas was closed due to ice!

Well you have a good drive and an easy one Mason and keep warm - I do not want to read about an iced block man being found in his truck cab!

When ya gonna be up here? I live on post just south of Tacoma. Weather allowing, wouldn't mind at all swinging up there to have dinner.

Oh yeah, and dress warm. Snow, slush and ice for the last week.

Yep. Same ice storm I was playing in this past weekend. Yuck.

I'm not sure yet when I'll be getting there. Probably some time this weekend. I'll likely stop at the TA truckstop just East of Seattle.

As for dressing warm, I have my trusty longhandles.

I'm in MN now. I've checked into a hotel for the night as I just felt like being comfortable tonight. I'll be getting a nice hot shower in about 5 minutes and then I'm going to check out the lounge and see what kind of food they have.

I'm finally going to get a little knitting time in this evening.

Old tricks sometimes work the best... Stay warm, and enjoy the knitting... You might even need it up there! Enjoy the drive... and be careful!
