Bad Day? Not So Much

It was a pretty good day today. Sunshine and reasonable traffic made today's driving pretty enjoyable. I heard over the CB that the truckstops in Oklahoma City were already pretty well filled up so I parked in a service plaza on the OK turnpike for tonight. I was really hoping to get through OK City tonight and park at one of the truckstops on the other side, but I shouldn't be surprised that they're filled up already. It seems like these days if you aren't in a parking space by 3:00PM you can just about forget it.
I'll have to deal with the morning traffic through the city tomorrow, but if I get an early enough start it shouldn't be too terrible.
The only real driving problem today was a strong crosswind out of the South that still hasn't let up. Constantly fighting it in a big rig can be a bit tiring after a few hours, but it still beats wet or snow covered roads.
After I ate my dinner I broke out my knitting and popped in a DVD. I'm rewatching the Ghostbusters movie. It's corny entertainment. After driving all day doing a bit of knitting while watching a movie is a good way to relax. The scarf is now 22" long and still progressing. I'm considering trying socks next as I want to learn to use double point needles. Besides, I can always use more warm socks.

People want to be in OK? Geez!
Ok, I guess letting them spend a nice boring night is their right.

WOW, socks after a scarf? I admire your initiative. I've made sweaters, afghans, etc. but scared of socks... You just might make me break down and try them.. I only have 3 or 4 books on the subject. lol
As far as OK goes... been there, glad I'm not there.. OK City is one of the few places I have continued to get lost in. I have traveled in Seattle, Denver, Dallas/FtWorth/ San Antonio.. KC, but I still have had more probs w/ OK CITY.. I doff my Stetson to ya!

Ditto. Although I finally got an in the round needle, and am planning to try it out by making a matching hat for dharma's scarf.
Socks. What's the worst that could happen?

I figure if I can tackle that, most other stuff should be easier. But I am debating whether to try socks next or go for a matching hat/scarf combo.
To be honest, being able to knit my own socks was a big part of the reason I took up knitting in the first place.

Socks aren't that hard; once you've turned one heel you'll have the hang of it. I learned how to knit socks with the assistance of this online tutorial:
WWW Link
It's called 'Socks 101' and it's a big help to me, even now.

Thanks Dharma. That makes two of them I have bookmarked now (this one and Silver's). Maybe between them I can manage a sock that doesn't look like a, well, anything other than a sock
The heel bit is the most confusing part I've read on sock patterns so far.
