A bunch of useless crap

The scarf I am knitting as my first progress is becoming a story told in yarn. The first several inches of the scarf show a lot of mistakes and uneven stitches. As one moves along it's length the mistakes become fewer and the stitches become more even.

Last night I knitted a few more inches onto the scarf while sitting in my truck watching a DVD. These rows actually look good. The stitches are even and the ribbing lines up the way it's supposed to do. The old axiom "practice makes perfect" is certainly true when it comes to knitting.

By the time I finish this scarf, which will take a little while as I can only work on it for a little while each evening, it will tell the story of my learning the basics of knitting. I'm looking forward to learning some of the more advanced stuff like cables and knitting in the round, but for now I am happy that I am making progress on the basic skills needed to build towards those more advanced ones.

Very true!  You should keep it and make your mother another one.  This one is your knotched gun so to speak.

I dunno, about 14" I'd guess. I hate to post a pick of it as it's more mistakes than anything.

This is great news M! Now about that belt sash that I need....! Keep up the good work! And by the way, knitting is popular amongst men now, the other day I heard some man mentioned his knitting to someone else! Very nice!
