As much as I wanted to get an early start towards home this morning I awoke to a heavy fog. Normally I would still have set out and just taken it slow, but with all of the holiday travelers on the roads I decided to play it safe and wait a while to see if the fog lifted.
The fog is starting to burn off now and sunshine is replacing it so I'll be able to head out in a few more minutes.
As much as I want to get home as soon as possible, I now how hazardous the roads are with all of the travelers trying to make their own destinations by Christmas, and many of them are driving too fast and are far too impatient. There was an accident in Seymour, IN yesterday which cost me a good bit of time, but there was at least one person involved that won't be seeing Christmas at all. Tragic.
I imagine that scene is being played out all across the country this weekend. People really need to slow down and be more patient when traveling. Getting there a little later is far better than not getting there at all.
