A bunch of useless crap

I slept in this morning. Socrates was kind enough to let me sleep until a quarter past 8:00 before he finally lost patience and pounced on me.

It's warmer today than yesterday. While it's still cool I don't need a jacket. Long sleeves is enough to be comfortable. It's cloudy and as I walked back to my truck after breakfast there were a few sprinkles of rain falling. It's looking to be one of those dreary days in MS.

As I was never able to get a hold of anyone either at the shipper or the broker I'll be sitting here until tomorrow morning before going on in to Gulfport to pick up whatever sort of military vehicle I am supposed to haul back to WI. The Pro number for the trip indicates that's it's a government load but beyond that I really have no idea what it is going to be.

I'll spend the day just being lazy and hanging out in the truck surfing the net and watching movies. There really isn't much else to do here. At some point today I'll catch up on my paperwork so that it's ready to turn in when I reach the yard. I may even take a nap this afternoon; the ultimate lazy day activity.

Socrates is happily playing with a pipe cleaner he stole out of my pipe kit and is pretty much content with his play for the moment. He had his mandatory 10 minutes of petting before I went in for breakfast.

I could stand to do some housekeeping in the truck and may get to it at some point today when I become bored enough. Right now I am just feeling too lazy to bother. Besides, there's not much point in trying to clean the floors when it's going to rain. Will just track them up again.

Seems like a reasonable excuse to me anyway.

I've seen both local police and Sheriff's dept cars cruising the parking lot here at the truckstop. A local cop just rolled past, checking out the lot. That either means one doesn't need to worry about security here, or should worry even more. Still, it's nice to see some police presence in the truckstop as in far too many places they don't bother to show up until after some truck driver has been robbed, knifed, or shot.

The truckstop itself is pretty quiet. A lot of drivers are either home for the weekend or making time to get to their Monday deliveries. I am parked between two oversized loads waiting out the Sunday curfew so they can continue on their way. I've never understood why most states won't allow us to run oversized loads on Sunday. Sunday drivers causing problems I guess. Most states recognize the fact that their citizens are morons behind the wheel.

Ah the rain is starting to fall now. I can hear it's light music on the roof of the truck and see it splattering on the windshield. A very light rain so far, but I suspect I'll see a good shower or two in due course.

A good day for being lazy. Now all I need is a bag of chocolate chip cookies.

Sounds like it! I'm thinking about loading up my son and going to the movies. We've been wanting to see Apocalypto. Of course I need to go buy the ATM and make a sizable withdrawal for drinks and popcorn...

Yeah you just about need a bank loan to go to the movies these days. I'd like to see Apocalypto but I'll probably wait until it comes out on DVD.

Enjoy the film and the time with your son.

Well, that was my first thought before I realized it was a state, and not a company!

Enjoy the Quality time with Socrates.

Sounds like you got the opposite kind of weather from us,  we got sunshine on our shoulders.

I guess it just never dawned on me that one would mop the floor in a semi,  then again I haven't seen a rig like you drive!  so i have no idea what all is in there.  Nice that you're a good housekeeper,  I've got some friends and their cars look like a dumpster for McDonalds!  They're good people,  just not spiffy!

I wouldn't say "mop". More like scrub with rags and a brush, but yeah they have to be cleaned one way or the other. A lot of truckstops have women who work cleaning the insides of trucks. Most of them will do it for twenty bucks, but I haven't hired one in a while. Too cheap I guess

Nice that you're a good housekeeper...

Well, I'd like to say that I am but it wouldn't be true. Some drivers keep the inside of their trucks so spotless you could eat off the floors. Sadly, I am just not that neat, but I do try and keep it reasonably tidy.
