A bunch of useless crap

I got to the yard this afternoon, dropped my load, and checked the box for paperwork for my next load. There was nothing there with my name on it. WTF?

Ok, whatever. I parked my truck and headed down to the bar. As I expected the boss and several others from work were there. The boss, Pete, bought me a beer and asked how my trip had gone. We chatted for a few minutes and I got around to the fact that there wasn't a load waiting for me.

He called over his brother, who is charge of outbound loads, and asked about it. He said that he had been told that I wouldn't be in until Sunday night.

Huh? I had a very specific conversation with S about when I would be at the yard. Noon Saturday or, if the weather was bad, late Saturday. Saturday either way.

The boss was pretty pissed about the whole thing and said that S had screwed up one too many times and he was gonna fire her ass on Monday. Oops.

I told him that maybe she was just hedging because of the weather, which I had done by telling her that it might be late Saturday when I got here, and that he shouldn't let her go. I managed to get him off of that idea and we had a few more beers.

To be honest, she has screwed up several times that I know of, and no idea how many other times, but I don't want to be the one responsible for her losing her job.

Pete told me to just get a room and he'd see to it that I got a load out on Monday. Ok, no problem. So now Socrates and I are in the hotel and chilling until Monday.

Not exactly making me any money, but sometimes things just go that way.

But if she costs me money again, I will personally ask the boss to can her ass.

I know how you feel. Had a girl work for us that was EXCELLENT help. Loved her. Went to certification school and was there on the front row when she got married. But then she got entagled in the prescription dope thing and went waaaaaay down hill. We had to finally can her after a billion documented chances. I hated that, as she was once upon a time so good.

Like I said, I know where you're coming from...

Gremlins and Budweiser

She's relatively new. I'm not sure exactly when they hired her, but it was shortly after I came back to work after recuperating from the wreck. She's nice enough, and I'd hate to see her get canned before she has a chance to learn the ropes. We don't exactly operate the same as the average trucking company.

Believe me, I've fired more than my share in my life, but I always hated doing it. If she's gonna get fired, let it be because somebody else bitched.
