A bunch of useless crap

I had to go to Wally World today to pick up some kitten food, cat treats, and some Gatorade for myself. I was expecting the Black Friday crowd. Amazingly enough the place wasn't any more crowded than it normally is, and maybe even a little less so.

I was able to get in, get what I needed, and go straight to a register without having to stand in a line to check out. I was a bit amazed as I had steeled myself for the rudeness and bustle of manic shoppers.

You're the only one. I had to drive past a few establishments like that on my way to work this morning . . . packed something terrible.

You must have been there after 10 or 11.  Most the blitz specials are done by then.

It was a pleasant surprise.

Yeah, it was around noon so I guess that could be it.

Was going to ask what time you got there, but notice the answer in comments above.  Would expect about the same.  Most of the "great deals" happen between say 4am - 6am (whatever time the store opens, normally early) and approximately 1 hour, at the most 2 hours, later.  By the end of the 1 to 2 hour window of time all of the "great deals" have been claimed by the early birds out shopping for the limited quantity items.

By the time you got there, everything was probably pretty well picked over, the store was probably cleaned back up some, and things were more "normal."

With that said, I've been lucky enough to go to Wally World a few times recently and once was one of the experiences you described in the original article -- the place was actually not that busy, easy to move around in, and service was surprisingly fast.  I was amazed.  Normally it's the land where time stands still, lines that never move, and aisles you can't even move down because the place is packed to the rafters with bargain shoppers.

When they aren't overly busy, Wally World isn't a bad store, but I'd rather avoid the place most of the time just to avoid the crowds there.

I went in about 8, and while Wally World was busy (wasn't able to get the 20" flat screen TV), it wasn't insanely so. I didn't get much of a haul (I decided to check it out before heading home), I did get a 1GB USB flash drive for $14 and a PlayDoh play desk for $15. It was worth the trip, at least.

I managed to stay out of the malls and big box stores this weekend.  Except for Lowes.

I agree. Normally the place sucks.
