While a big bed always feels strange to me I got a pretty good night's sleep here at the motel. My truck has a large bed for a truck, but it's still nothing compared to a king sized bed. My bed at home is actually just a twin and is smaller than the one in my truck, so a king always feels odd to me, but it's nice to have the room to spread out.
When I checked into this room I noticed that there was very little toilet paper left on the roll, I guess housekeeping missed it. I tracked down one of their people and acquired a fresh roll which I found a tad annoying but people make mistakes so not that big of a deal. At some point during the night Socrates stole the fresh roll, still in it's paper wrapper, off the back of the toilet and had a ball with it. When I woke this morning I had to spend a few minutes picking up the shredded remains of the wrapper. After removing the outer layers of the roll it was usable again. Damn cat.
One thing that really annoys me about hotels/motels is the fact that they provide you a small coffee pot in your room to make three or four small cups of coffee but they invariably only provide enough cream and sugar for a single cup. What the hell is up with that? I had my one small cup, packed up Socrates and his assorted gear and returned him to the truck so I could get myself ready for the day in peace, and went to the motel lobby to get more cream and sugar for my coffee.
The load I am hauling is all packed in wooden crates, except for the four pallets of 55 gallon drums, but was still supposed to be tarped. I was less than inclined to waste time and energy tarping the very large wooden crates and simply didn't bother. It just doesn't make any sense, it's just a stupid policy of the shipper. I can understand them wanting their compressors tarped as machinery is always tarped, but it's stupid to tarp crates. I have been keeping an eye on the weather forecast down the road though, just in case. Luckily it doesn't look like I'll see any rain at all between here and Miami.
I'm enjoying my morning coffee and am just about awake enough now to have a nice hot shower and shave before hitting the road. The nice thing about staying in a motel is being able to shower without feeling rushed to get out so the shower room can be cleaned and made ready for the next guy in line. It's nice to be able to take my time shaving without feeling rushed to make room for the next guy in line to do the same.
I'm in no hurry at all today so I can take my time this morning and going down the road. I like that.
