Yesterday afternoon I picked up some crates and barrels associated with large industrial compressors (driers, filters, etc.) going to the port in Miami and destined for Venezuela. I can't deliver them until Monday and Miami was only 11 hours from where I picked them up in NC.
I wandered down into SC and parked for the night last night. Today I drifted on down as far as GA and said to hell with it for the day. It was lunch time so it was as good a time as any to stop. Being as I have a lot of extra time to kill I rented a motel room for the night.
Being as I'll be home by Monday evening renting a room is really a waste of money but I just didn't feel like killing time in the truck or in the truckstop. I can kick back, relax, drink a few beers, and basically just chill out until tomorrow when I'll continue on down towards Miami. It's only about 6 hours or so from here so no big rush. If Socrates will let me I may just sleep in tomorrow morning.
I guess Socrates is maturing because he's less freaked out by being moved from the truck to the room. He used to get really weired out, so much so that I had been just leaving him in the truck. I would have felt bad leaving him in the truck this long so I sneaked him in. He freaked for a few minutes, explored every nook and cranny of the room, and then went nuts running around all over the place. Now he's worn himself out and is just chilling.
While renting the room is a waste of money I just felt the need to get out of the truck and relax.
