A bunch of useless crap

I have been chasing a pretty nasty storm all day. I have been slowly catching up to it and have been seeing some of the damages left in it's wake; broken tree limbs, damaged signs, and debris scattered around. I am in Hammond, LA, almost to the Eastern state line. I can actually see the storm line from here. It obviously just passed through here as the pavement is wet and there are puddles everywhere. The ditches along side the interstate are flooded with rapidly moving muddy water.

I've been monitoring the weather conditions via satellite radio and it's looking pretty nasty. Tornadoes, high winds, and heavy rain. I've heard that trucks have been blow over in several places including AR, LA, MS, and AL. One of the trucks blown over in LA yesterday fell over on a car. I passed by that one and I seriously doubt that whoever was in that car survived. There have been several people killed by this storm system so far.

I'm taking a brief break here to stretch my legs and grab some extra supplies such as Gatorade and some microwaveable food before heading into the storm. I'm also double checking the chains on these two Army trucks to ensure they're as secure as possible before going into the high winds.

It should be an interesting afternoon.

The storm that blew through here last Sunday knocked over 3 18 wheelers on I-81.  In cases like this, it is good you dont drive a box truck.

Stay safe.  Hopefully you left all the stupids back in La.

After checking the radar images online and not liking what I saw I decided to reroute. I turned up I-59 instead of running into Mobile and catching I-65. That way I could run North just West of the storm's position and give it time to continue on East. It added some extra miles to my trip but was worth it to reduce my risk exposure.

I still caught some of the rain and a lot of wind, but stayed out of the worst of it. I'll spend the night here at the MS/AL line and continue on tomorrow. But of course there is another storm front coming in from the West but maybe it won't be quite so severe.
