It was pretty mild here in WI yesterday. The temps were in the 60s and it was pleasant. As the day progressed the winds began to pick up and by dusk it was quite windy. It was obvious a front was moving in.
Before going to bed I checked the weather forecast. It was supposed to be reasonably warm this morning and the temps drop as the day progressed; cold front. Ok, no problem, just be prepared to put on warmer clothing later in the day. As it was pretty comfortable I went to sleep with just the fan blowing.
At some point in the wee hours I awoke and found myself quite cold and Socrates was buried right up against me trying to keep warm. WTF? I checked to see if I had mistakenly turned on the ac instead of the fan. Nope, just the fan running. I grabbed my heavy blanket and turned on the heat, set to low, and went back to sleep. I guess the cold front got here quicker than expected.
I hate this time of year. The weather changes faster than John Kerry's mind. Luckily, I am to pick up a fire rescue truck this morning and haul it down to GA where it should be nice and warm. It's an oversized load, which I usually like because they pay so well, but they're not quite as nice this time of year when it gets dark so much earlier. As I can't run with it after dark I'm going to have to make the best of what daylight I have on the way down. At least I know I'll be getting my sleep.
I got up early this morning so that I would have time to enjoy some coffee and a shave before getting started on the day. But at the moment I am just enjoying my coffee as now that I am up I do not feel like shaving yet. I'll wait until I am more fully awake. As I am sure I'll get a little dirty securing the fire truck I'll probably just wait and shave when I shower after the work is finished. I should have a couple of hours to kill waiting for the oversize permits anyway.
I just hope the weather cooperates on the way down to GA, but this time of year you just never know for sure.
