A bunch of useless crap

I made my first stop in Fond du Lac today and proceeded to the yard with a brief stop to get a shave. It was late afternoon by the time I reached the yard so I did what any normal person would do and I headed down to the local pub.

There is a small group of elderly folks who are regulars at this pub. When I went in and settled onto a stool one lady, Annie, who is in her 70s said that she lost her bet. Naturally I inquired about the bet. It seems that they had a running bet about what sort of hat I would be wearing when I came in.

It's no secret that I like hats, and I suppose folks notice that. I wear everything from a cowboy hat to a Homberg, although a fedora is most common for me. Tonight I was wearing my rabbit lined quilted hat as it was kind of cold and the wind was blowing.

I suppose it had never really occurred to me that people actually noticed what sort of hat I was wearing at any given time. I guess instead of being the old "cat lady" I'm the old "hat guy".

whatever, as long as I'm not the old "creepy guy".

Several people there were glad to see me and bought me drinks so I guess being the old hat guy isn't so bad.

I haven't worn the Stetson in a little while. Hats come and go with moods.

They're a nice bunch of people.

Yes, I suppose so. Hat wearing pretty well went out of fashion some 40 years ago. Ballcaps don't count. I am hoping that eventually they'll make a come back.

!

Mason,  you're not OLD, yet.  Give it about 15 years ok?

By the way,  around here if one sees someone driving AND wearing a hat,  we call them HatPeople"  and they are usually really old people and are DANGEROUS drivers, especially the men that wear huge hats and are shrunk down in their car seats...usually all one can see, if you're behind them,  is the hat!!  It's a hoot.

You're not there yet,  wait a while ok?

They say you're as old as you feel so that makes me pretty damned old some days.

I know what you mean about the old men in hats being bad drivers.

Creepy is good, far better than hoh-hum, or yawn, or invisibility.

Happy Halloweeny, you creepy old fart with the old hat and the cute kitty.

thanks. Happy Spooks to you too.

Ahhh!  That poor old lady.  did you buy her a drink?  She cares enough to notice.

Have a restful Sunday, I know next week is going to be busy.

She's a friendly old bird to be sure. Actually I did buy her a drink along with the others sitting there. We normally buy each other a round.

I had planned to get a lot done today. I was going to do my laundry, clean out the inside of my truck, and catch up my paperwork.

The paperwork is the only thing I got done today. I'm just too busy resting (read goofing off) to get the rest of it done. I'm hoping I'll have some time tomorrow for the rest of it.
