A bunch of useless crap

Rain, fog, snow. These are weather conditions which seriously reduce visibility when driving. The smart thing to do (and legally required in most states) is to turn on your lights so that other drivers can see you. It just makes sense and can greatly reduce accidents. So why are there so many drivers out there who refuse to do it?

Anyone who has ever driven on wet roads is familiar with that large cloud of spray coming from the tires of a big truck. What many don't seem to realize is that cloud of spray does a very good job of hiding your car from the truck driver. If you are driving on a wet/snowy road and don't have your lights on there is a very good chance that the driver of the rig you are passing can't see you at all. Guess what happens if he/she decides to change lanes? Yep, you get run over. Know what else? If you didn't have your lights on, it's your damn fault.

You people need to use your lights when visibility is reduced. It's simple common sense and could well save your life. And no, just turning on your marker (parking) lights in NOT good enough no matter how cool you think it makes you look. It doesn't require much effort to reach over and turn on your lights. It just requires a very small amount of thought which seems to be impossible for some of the dimwits out there on the roads.

Turn your damn lights on stupid!!!!!!!!! I don't have time to deal with all of the paperwork associated with running over and killing your dumb ass no matter how much it may help the human gene pool.

oooh Mason..... I have never heard you so angry and irritated!

Seriously though, you are absolutely right, people endanger others on the road with their stupidity. Lights are very important on the roads in the weather conditions you have listed.

I as a rule keep my lights on on all weathers to heighten my visibilty on the road, some people flash me telling me my lights are on, I keep them on, it is my ass in the driving seat and I want to be seen before the fact not after the fact.

Your article is a good reminder to others to put their lights on.

Some people never learn M! Not having the lights on when it's necessary is the quickest way to be in an accident. I see it here all the time too.

It's amazing to me the number of people that think headlights only help them see (as opposed to helping them being seen).

Check another off my list of driving peeves here too!

I have DRL on both my vehicles and I wish they would implement daytime running lights better. Having your headlights on when it’s sunny is stupid and waist an estimated 600-mil gals of fuel a year. Auto manufacturers are even allowed to disconnect DRL when they test fuel economy.

The technology is quite simple to have a dual stage sensor that turns running lights on automatically when the light levels drop to a point and full headlights at dusk.

It’s even illegal to sell after market sensors that do this. I had no idea the halogen bulb manufacturers were so powerful.

2 days of driving in the rain will do that

I doubt the morons actually think at all.

DRLs are fine but some idiots rely upon them in poor visibility. That's fine for the front but one also needs tail lights in bad weather.

As for the fuel, paying a little more for fuel is a lot cheaper than a car accident. Even on sunny days they make you more visible at a much longer distance.
