does not constitute an emergency on my part
This morning I got a call from dispatch asking where I was. I told him that I was rolling up I-55 between Memphis and St Louis. He got all excited and said that he was expecting me to be unloaded in WI today. Really? Why is that?
It seems he had told the customer at my final stop that I would be there today, which was a very poor choice on his part and I said as much. After all of the delays getting loaded and being as that final stop quits receiving at 2PM there was simply no way that I could make the first stop and then make it to that last stop by 2PM. I had set it up to deliver the first one over the weekend and the last one on Monday morning. It seemed perfectly reasonable to me.
It seems between my dispatcher failing to communicate with me and whomever I spoke with at that last stop failing to communicate with his people, the whole thing got a few people angry. Ah well, not my problem. Maybe next time the dispatcher will have enough sense to communicate with me to find out what my plans are before making a committment to someone. I run on my schedule, not on his.
