I arrived at the place in lakeland this morning to load the two trucks. As soon as I saw them I knew there was going to be a problem. The measurements the guy had given dispatch were way off. After talking with him I found that he had measured from the rear frame to the front wheel. There was still 5 more feet of truck after that!
We tried every possible trick to make them fit on my trailer but it just wasn't going to work. They were simply too long. I called the guy buying them and told him the olny way 2 of them would fit on my trailer would be to cut off the extended PTO bumpers on the front of each. He said ok, cut them off.
Well, they're his trucks so I told the guy to get his torch and cut the front bumpers off as close to the front of the truck as possible. As each one stuck out a tad more than 3 feet in front of each truck, that freed up roughly 6 feet. Just enough to make them fit.
I just can't understand why, when the guy was asked for the lengths of the trucks he just somehow forgot to measure the whole damned thing. What an asshat.
Well, I just finished lunch here in Tampa and it's time to head North.
