A bunch of useless crap

I finally got my load picked up. It's a bunch of D9 dozer parts headed for South America. I'll deliver them at the port in Jacksonville, FL tomorrow and then head home for a week or so.

I'm stopped at a truckstop to have a bite of lunch before moving on down the road. I'm in no real hurry now as I am only 5.5 hours from Jacksonville. The waitress came to take my order. I asked for the small ribs platter. She picked up the menu and showed me their new full rack of ribs "special" and asked if I was sure I didn't want that instead. I said no, I'll have what I asked for. When I said no she immediately asked "Why not?"

At this point I am beginning to get irritated. I informed her that I want the platter I requested as it is only $10 and I really don't feel the need to pay $15 for a full rack of ribs for lunch.

I am sure they are supposed to try and sell the new menu items and I can understand that. But she crossed the line when she decided to argue with me about it. Just give me what I asked for and leave me the hell alone. Geez.

Did you leave her a tip?

Something like, don't argue with your customers?

Let's just say the tip was somewhat less than I would have normally left her.

I don't mind them telling me about specials or even making suggestions, but once I decide what I would like I don't expect them to debate me about my choice.

I wonder why she did that? They're waitressing and doing a sales pitch too? Maybe she'll get extras from the boss for every special sold? Who knows...that's weird though!
