I would advise anyone visiting NC to avoid drinking the water. The must be something wrong with it. Everyone I have dealt with here lately are complete and utter morons. The latest example is the final stop on this load. I had called and asked for directions to the jobsite where the generator was to be delivered and the woman gave them to me although she wasn't too sure about some highway names but gave me landmarks.
I followed the directions to the letter and found myself way out in the sticks and nowhere near...well....anywhere. I found a place to pull off the skinny back road and made a call. I spoke with another woman who didn't sound too sure either so I insisted she put her boss on the phone. After a conversation that was less than friendly on my part I finally got some directions that put me where I needed to be despite the fact that this moron didn't even know the name of the damned highway. (There's only one that runs through this little jerkwater place). Seems the original woman didn't know left from right. What complete idiots!
When I got here the guys werw waiting. I was expecting to see either a crane or a large lull waiting to unload the generator. Oh no. They had an excavator. Umm, guys, those are for digging not for lifting. They scratched their asses and tried to figure out how to use the excavator to unload a 5,000lbs generator. *sigh*
I took charge (after making them sign for the generator...just in case) and directed them on how to rig the chains to get a lift so that I could drive out from under it. Whatever happened after that wasn't my problem.
Now I'm waiting for dispatch to call me back with the information for my next load which is supposed to be taking me home.
I just want to get the hell out of here before I get thirsty.
