A bunch of useless crap

It turns out my dispatcher had added up the dimensions of my load but neglected to add up the weight. When he finally got around to it it turned out it was far too heavy. Back to square one.

He put together a load that is going to Hanibal, MO, Kansas City, and Oklahoma City. Not exactly what I had expected but is ok. I'm back at the hotel for tonight and will leave out tomorrow. With this bad cold that's fine with me.

I went over to Appleby's for dinner and then over to the hotel next door for drinks. The lounge in the hotel next door has a different class of customers and plays jazz instead of the pop crap Appleby's plays.

While sucking down a Sam Adams I struck up a conversation with a middle aged couple sitting next to me at the bar. They were an interesting couple and we talked about everything from pets to politics.

When they left and I had moved from Sam Adams to vodka martinis a young couple sat in the chairs the other couple had vacated. Our conversation was far different.

The young lady started out by saying how much she liked my hat (fedora). This young couple told me far more about their personal life than I really wanted to know and the young guy was less than polite.

When I finally grew tired of the young guy's rudeness I called him on it and told him I thought he was a rude little ass that seriously needed to learn some manners. His young lady immediately piped up and said "see, I told you so!"

It seems this was an ongoing problem for them. He apologized to me and said that he hadn't meant to be rude. Of course I accepted his apology and bought him a drink. He later reciprocated and even asked me some questions related to his asshole behavior. It seems no-one ever took the time to teach him any better.

It has been an interesting evening.

Yeah, it's an interesting world all right. I don't think the kid meant any harm, no-one had ever taught him any manners.

What would be like if we were all in the same mould? Good manners cost nothing yet it is something more and more parents are failing to teach their off spring.

How you feeling now Mason is your health improving?

I also blame the parents to a certain extent, but some kids have been taught manners but adopt the rude, "gangsta" attitude regardless. Those are the ones I'd love to smack around a bit.

I'm still under the weather, but I'm sure it'll pass. Thanks for asking.

Thanks. I finally got loaded at the yard this morning. Not the TX run though, as the weight issues couldn't be resolved. I have a stop in Hannibal, MO for Monday morning, then I move to KS, and final out in OK on Tuesday morning.

I'm sitting in IL now, about 5.5 hours from the first stop. I have all day tomorrow to get there, but at least I'm under a load again.

Now if I could just shake this damn cold or whatever it is.

I hope you'll get rid of it soon. Before going to bed try to have a bottle of rum, a flask will do and add some to black coffee and drink it. That usually works for me! Cleans your system real quick!

Thanks. I'll skip the rum as I don't need a hangover out here on the road. But then, Nyquil is mostly alcohol.

Oh of course! I should have mentioned drink it when you're turning in for the night. A tad of it in coffee doesn't give you a hang over, just heats up your body enough for you to sweat out whatever is ailing you. Nyquil straigt up works too!LOL!
