A bunch of useless crap

Today was a pretty laid back day for me as is appropriate for a Sunday I suppose. I slept in until 7:00 at which time Socrates lost patience and insisted that I get up. I bobtailed down to the truckstop for some much needed coffee and a nice hot breakfast.

While enjoying my morning repast I got my paperwork all caught up on the laptop so that I could print it all out and drop it in the mailbox back at the yard upon my return. Getting paid can get to be somewhat important from time to time, or so my creditors tell me. After finishing my breakfast I returned to the truck, plugged in the printer, and quickly had all of my paperwork ready to turn in. It was time to get moving.

After dropping off the paperwork I hooked to my trailer, caught up my log book, and set a course towards Minneapolis. I decided that since I wasn't in any rush I'd route myself across the state on mostly back roads and just enjoy the scenery. It was a nice ride through many small towns and villages, past farms and ball parks. Very relaxing.

Eventually I made it across to the point where I had to get onto I 94 and go west towards the state line. I cruised along for a while passing several state troopers on the shoulder of the highway writing tickets to the people who were in far more of a rush than myself. I chuckled, lit a cigar, and maintained my leisurely pace with the cruise set right at the speed limit, Socrates happily dozing on my arm rest between requests for a head scratch.

Sometimes it's nice to just relax and cruise along enjoying the scenery. There really is a lot of great stuff out there to see if one takes the time to do so. At one point I passed a small village park where it appeared they were having a classic car show. I wanted to stop and check out the old cars but sadly there wasn't any place that I could safely park my rig so I kept going.

I made it to the last truckstop before entering Minnesota. I'm 4 miles from the state line and only about 30 minutes or so from where I have to deliver tomorrow morning. I won't have to be in a rush in the morning either. I've had a nice hot shower, a good relaxing shave, and now have nothing at all to be done until the morrow.

I think I'll have a nice steak dinner this evening. Well, as nice as one can get at one of these truckstops anyway.

You had a nice drive!  I like to think that our area of the U.S. is pretty relaxing and pleasant to drive through.

Have a good day tomorrow!

You're right, except in the Winter I can imagine. So enjoy it while it lasts! I enjoyed hearing about it. It's nice to be on point and with nothing to worry about for the rest of the day isn't it?! Hope you had a delicious steak!

Thanks. Yes it is nice to be able to just relax for a while.

I'm getting ready to walk inside right now and see about that steak.

It sounds like you had a really pleasant drive today! No hassle, no stress, no worries! It is a pity you could not stop to check out the classic car show!

Give Socrates a hug from me!

Yes, it was nice. I would have liked to have visited the car show but no big deal either way.

Thanks.

The steak wasn't too bad for truckstop food. Although I don't get too many relaxing Sundays, I'll take the ones I get.
