My hair has always been somewhat unruly. It's nearly impossible for me to get it to stay combed without something to help hold it in place. It isn't curly or anything although it does have a natural wave to it, it's just a bit dry and the slighest breeze blows it all over my head.
I've tried various hair grooming products over the years. Many of the new products either make the hair feel stiff, greasy, or simply don't work. I like my hair to look neat and remain combed, but I don't want it to be stiff or greasy.
Today while at Walgreens I saw Brylcreem on the shelf. I hadn't used it in several years but I remembered that it always held my hair in place pretty well without making it all stiff or greasy. I can't recall now why I stopped using it unless it was to try some newfangled product or other.
The Brylcreem is exactly as I recall. My hair combs into place perfectly, feels nice and soft, and has a nice shine to it. The stuff does exactly what it is supposed to do. It has a fairly pleasant smell to it as well that reminds me of visits to the barber shop when I was a kid.
There's something to be said for the tried and true products that have been around for many decades. There's a reason the stuff has remained on the market.
That reminds me, I need to visit the barbershop tomorrow. I love my barbershop. They still use the old fashioned scented hair tonic after they cut your hair. I always liked that.
Maybe I'm too old fashioned.
