A bunch of useless crap
I made it back to the yard around lunch time. When I walked into the office I was greated by the boss and presented with a nice black satin company jacket, a new thermos, and a $50 savings bond. Last week was Trucker Appreciation Week and since I wasn't at the yard for the annual cook-out the boss wanted to make sure and give me my goodies when I got in.

It was kinda nice. I'd been wanting a new company jacket since I came back to work. As for the thermos, I looked at it and asked him how much scotch he thought it would hold.

I then collected my paycheck and headed for the bank. After cashing it, I made a quick stop at the tobbaconist shop to pick up a box of cigars, and then on to Wally World to restock on groceries. I also picked up a stuffed toy for Socrates which he seems to really be enjoying attacking.

I am heading out tomorrow morning for NC again. I will have four stops, all generators, to deliver on Wednesday and Thursday. As all of my load has not yet arrived at the yard I decided to go ahead and check into the hotel and relax while awaiting the arrival of the last couple of generators. They should be at the yard by 5:00 this afternoon so I will go back over there then to build my load and get it all secured.

After that I can come back and enjoy a few brews and a nice dinner at the Appleby's next door before settling in the evening.

Originally I was to haul a load down to FL so I could go home, but none of the customers at the FL end wanted their generators delivered until after the hurricane passes (pansies). We decided I would just do the NC run instead and load something on down to FL from there.

When I checked in to the hotel the lady at the desk asked about how Socrates is doing and insisted on walking out to the truck with me to see him. While he enjoyed the attention and the petting he flat refused to set a foot outside the truck. No way he was going near that open door. I picked hiim up and brought him out so she could pet him but he struggled the entire time to get back in the truck. Being outside scares him.

So I'm now restocked on groceries and cigars, relaxing for an hour or so in the hotel before returning to work, and once again have sufficient cash in my pocket.

I just have to remember to do my paperwork while I'm lounging around here this evening.

Last time he tried to go outside, he got his paw smacked!  It will take awhile before he tries again!

How's the weather where yer at?  It's been cool and dark here,  humid.

Poor Socrates,  I hope he gets over being afraid now!  How does he do during storms?

That's a good boss!
I hope Socrates paw is doing better. Have you taken anymore pictures of him lately?
Oh - yes - paperwork - end of month is Thursday.
Enjoy your evening & payday!

I'm in WI now and the weather is dark and wet at the moment. Socrates doesn't like thunder much at all. He usually runs to me when he hears it.

Wow, trucker appreciation? Why wasn't that on the news?

The jacket sounds nice, and the thermos, well winter is coming.

Enjoy Applebees.

Trucker appreciation week has been going on for years. The truckstops used to have free food, or really good deals on stuff, but these days it's pretty much meaningless. It doesn't get talked about on the news because most people couldn't care less about truckers.
