What a morning! I arrived at the yard around 8:00 this morning to see what sort of load they had for me. I have 5 generators on fuel tank bases, some transfer switches, and 1 trailer mounted generator. 3 of the generators don't have enclosures so they had to be tarped.
I spent most of the morning chaining down and tarping the load. All of that walking, climbing, and hoisting has left me barely able to hobble along with my cane. I'm walking like a 90 year old man at the moment. Anyway, once I got everything secured I made my way down to the truckstop to have a much deserved breakfast.
Some of our drivers were there and invited me to join them at their table. I did but really wasn't in the mood to socialize. It's very difficult to be sociable when in tremendous pain. I stayed long enough to eat and chat a little before excusing myself to make it a little ways down the road.
I really hate not being sociable with my fellow drivers, but I really, really couldn't have sat there much longer. Every minute felt like an eternity of pain.
I am now 12 hours from my first stop down in the SouthWest corner of Virginia. As I don't have to be there any special time on Monday I am going to stay right here until tomorrow morning so as to give my hip time to recover. I just can't see me trying to drive any more today, it's just far too uncomfortable right now.
Ah well, getting old is a bitch.
