A bunch of useless crap

I'm back in WI. I stopped at the yard long enough to drop my trailer and collect my paycheck. I asked the boss what he had planned for me. His answer was "I'm not sure yet". That's cool.

I boogied to the bank, cashed my check, checked into the hotel, and hit Applyby's.

My favorite bartender, Jenny, wasn't working there any more. Major bummer. The new bartender, Nikki, was actually better looking and sexier, but not nearly as much fun.

Several of the people who worked there said hello to me and told Nikki to a take good care of me, but it just wasn't the same. The fun factor was lacking big time. It's amazing how a single person can really make a place fun or not.

I had a good time anyway. I make my own fun regardless of whether anyone else is having fun or not. Damn, but Nikki was definately a hot number, and we did chat a bit and share a few jokes, but it just wasn't the same as when Jenny worked there.

Ah well, that's the nature of life, isn't it? People come into and out of our lives and we just have to deal with it. It's always fun when someone new enters our life. Sometimes it's a person we just happen to meet, sometimes it's a new band we hear on the radio that we really dig, sometimes it's just a person we chat with for 5 minutes while waiting for a bus. Whatever, sometimes people drift into and out of our lives and enrich it in ways we don't even appreciate at the time.

I really missed Jenny tonight. Not because I thought she was cute or anything like that (which I did indeed), but because she and I had a "thing". An unexplainable merging of personalities that just makes two people click. I really loved that girl because she and I just hit it off from the moment we met and we always had a fun time when we spent time together. That's a rare thing, and it sad when it breaks up.

But that's the nature of life, isn't it?

yes, that's life. You make me miss Jenny too. She sounded like a lovely person. Too bad you two can't hook up. But if it's meant to be it will.

It is true one person's personality can make or break a place.

Here is Jenny's number though. 867-5309.

I'm sorry Mason I couldn't resist.

Heh heh heh...is it sad that I'm 18 and I get that joke?

Ah, when two people click it's something amazing. Kind of hard to describe unless you've felt it.... Well, Mason...maybe you two will meet up again, you never know.

One of my favorite bartenders worked at a place called the Sea Hag. It was a great place to hang out, drink beer and smoke, all the while listening to great music.

When Mike left, for reasons untold, it took only a month or so for the regulars to quit coming. It wasn't the same with the new bartender who replaced him. He played the wrong music, wouldn't make the effort to know your name, or your drink, and took way too long chatting up the occasional young thing to pay attention to the people who really funded the place.

The bar closed down for good 2 months later.

Man, I still miss Mike, and that was a good 6 years ago.

She's a nice kid. I was told she's working at a department store now. She should make an excellent salesperson.

Yeah, I tend to run across people now and again. I just hope she likes what she's doing now. She really seemed to enjoy bartending and I expect she'll go back to it sooner or later. She had a good personality for it.

Yep, the right bartender and wait staff can really make a place. One of my old favorites was the bar inside of an upscale restaurant in Athens, Ohio. The bartender was this flaming gay guy named Harp. We all called him Uncle Harpy. He was a riot and they did a great business because of him. When he finally left the place their bar business dried up to nothing.

Isn't that what life is about?  Not everyone is a heart throb.  But then we connect with some and they bring a soothing peace into our lives.

That is what it is about.  That was Gail to me. Jenny to you. Yea, I understand.  I hope you can find some more 'peace'.  It is just a smile and a wink, but it makes the day.

Yeah, it's always good to connect with someone.

That's a bummer Mason.

Too bad you didn't get her number, you could call her when in town and maybe get together for drinks at Applebees!

Next time you click with someone, get the dang number! When I was single if I clicked with a guy and he asked for my number, no pressure, just might call me sometime, I'd give it to him.

Clicking with someone right off is rare for me though.

Nah, the kid is less than half my age. She was just a fun bartender.
