A bunch of useless crap
Published on July 22, 2006 By MasonM In Blogging
This morning I slept until 8:00. I awoke around 6:00, said screw it, and went back to sleep. I needed it and I feel rested today.

I cashed my paycheck this morning and then took the truck to the Western Star dealership to get an estimate for the repairs from the rookie hitting it in the truckstop. It turned out that has to be done at the body shop which is located in another town and isn't open on the weekend. I'll have to make a point of getting there one day during the week.

While I was there I did get a new light as one of the ones in the sleeper was broken by the previous driver. I hate to see broken things in a practically brand new truck. I also ordered a new clothes hanger bar for the closet as the previous driver had removed it and did God knows what with it. The parts guy said he'd call me when it comes in.

I am hauling a load of equipment to the Redstone Arsenal military base in Texarkana. I strapped it all down and headed down here to the WI/IL line. I'll stay here until tomorrow morning before heading south through IL and swinging W/SW out of Memphis. I'll have to run a bit hard tomorrow but I just feel like taking it easy the remainder of today and tonight.

I stopped at a Wally World on the way here and purchased a scratching post and some different kitten food for Socrates. He hasn't been eating as much as I feel he should and suspected he simply didn't like the food. He really seems to like the new food and ate quite a bit right after I poured it into his dish. He's now sleeping off his meal.

Oh yeah, I picked up some groceries and supplies for myself as well. I also picked up a few DVDs to watch on the road. I got the Star Wars Trilogy boxed set (so sue me, I'm a geek), and The Pink Panther starring Steve Martin.

So now we're all settled in for an afternoon and evening of relaxation and some serious goofing off before getting back hard at it tomorrow.

Cats are people too!  They like variety.  Ours loved the Fish, now cant stand it.  Hates the liver too (Cant say I blame her for that).  Loves the big cats food!  But My wife is saying NO!  Kitten food only.

Tween you and me and before my wife sees this, just get him different flavors!  Would you want to eat Chicken every day?

Now that you've got Socrates, I'm checking your blog more often just to hear news of him! LOL

Sounds like you had a good day

My kid's got the Star Wars Trilogy and we watch it every so often, he just bought the Pink Panther Cartoon DVD. It's a 2 disc set.
I haven't laffed so hard in a long time

It's nice you keep your truck up so well, some people just don't seem to care.

I wanted to send you a video, from online, it's one of cats with all kinds of hijinks they do! If you use AOL messenger and want the video, email me at ladykate19@hotmail.com. Have a good rest!

Yeah, I can understand the desire for variety. Honestly, I think he just didn't like the food I bought from the pet shop. He would just nibble it. The new stuff, Purina One Kitten food has a much stronger smell to it (the old stuff hardly had a smell at all), and he dove into it like he hadn't eaten in weeks. After eating he slept for a while, got up and ate some more of it. And of course decided he needed to nap some more afterwards.

Once he gets a little older I'll start buying him kitty treats. Right now I think he needs to stick with the kitten food so he grows properly. I won't feed him canned food simply because it isn't practical in the truck.

Yeah, it's been a fairly relaxed day.

My kid's got the Star Wars Trilogy and we watch it every so often, he just bought the Pink Panther Cartoon DVD. It's a 2 disc set.

Nothing like a bit of comedy to brighten the day.

It's nice you keep your truck up so well, some people just don't seem to care.

Very true, some don't seem to care. Personally, I take better care of the truck because it's not owned by me than I did my own. I've seen guys trash company owned trucks and they just shrug and walk away from it or complain because it's a piece of junk. Well, duh, it's a piece of junk because nobidy took care of it.

Sounds cute. I watched one like that on youtube recently. Wonder if it's the same one?

I don't use AOL anything, sorry.

I was in the mood for some Chinese food so I wandered into the truckstop to see what looked good. I happened to walk past the barber shop and the lady was just sitting there without any customers so I decided to get a shampoo and cut.

My hair was clean but it's nice and relaxing to have some nice lady shampoo it so I did that and had her give me a trim. She didn't do too bad a job of it either.

Not that anyone would notice since I wear a hat all the time.

Decadence!  It has its advantages.

ah, welcome to my state. it's mine, i own it.

hehe

There's a Waffle House in Caddo Valley (if you're going to Texarkana, you're going through Caddo Valley) where I may be found many a night drinking coffee, listening to Hank Williams, and plotting my communist plots.

Cheers.

The other advantage to dry food is that their poo doesn't stink as bad, and it's easier to scoop out of the litterbox.

Once he's on a high quality food, don't be a sucker and let him get finicky! Stick with the same brand, although you can change flavors now and then. Cats are really smart, and if he figures out you'll give him something different if he holds out long enough, he'll hold out long and often, often enough that sooner or later in desperation you'll start trying to tempt him with those ultra expensive, ultra tiny little cans of Fancy Feast or whatever, and once you start that...you're doomed, I tell ya, DOOMED!

When he gets old enough, and you start to take him outside regularly, you should ask the vet about once-a-month flea drops too. A small space like your truck can get infested quicker than you know, and once you've got 'em they're a real bitch to get rid of.

Sounds like he's getting you trained nicely, Mason...you go, Socrates!

Yeah, the dry food is all he's gonna get for the reasons you stated as well as just being easier to store and dispense in a truck.

I plan to start him on the flea treatment as soon as he's old enough.

Yeah, he's getting me trained right.

Yep, is nice to get pampered once in a while.

Dunno about a muse, but he is amusing.
