I've always had a "thing" for hats and canes. Can't say why really, but I have collected both for as long as I can recall. As I wear a hat any time I am not indoors, that one's a natural. But as for canes, I have always liked them even before my physical condition required their use.
I own one in particular, actually a walking stick as opposed to a cane. It's quite nice. It's called a Gentleman's Companion. The shaft is made from a black golf club shaft, and the handle is a highly polished antique silver door knob. It fits the hand perfectly, and is a pleasure to use while taking a stroll. It looks pretty snazzy too.
When I split up with my last girlfriend and moved back to Florida from Virginia, there was a lot of stuff that simply wouldn't fit in my car. All of that stuff is in a storage unit in North Carolina. My Gentleman's Companion is among the items in storage there. As I was taking my walk earlier I was carrying my regular aluminum medical cane in case my hip started giving me trouble, and my favorite walking stick came to mind and I realized just how much I miss carrying it.
I really need to take the time to make a run to NC and retrieve all of my wayward possessions, but there just never seems to be enough time. I suppose I'll have to make the plans, take a little time off work, and get it done. Seems silly to keep paying for the stoarge when I could easily move all of it here now.
